“ Marriott International Hotel의 'SERVE 360 REPORT', The perfect balance of sustainability and social responsibility: Best practices for implementing ESG principles into reality”




Marriott International has outlined specific goals for ESG management and its ongoing practices and efforts through the 2023 'SERVE 360 REPORT'. It is an inspiring best practice for how companies can contribute specifically. Marriott International has set goals for each ESG area (environment, society, and governance) in accordance with the GRI (Global Reporting Initiative) standard, the current global standard for ESG reports, with four topics, and is showing detailed implementation activities and programs. The four main goals are as follows.

We are making various efforts to promote environmental sustainability, achieving goals such as increasing energy efficiency and improving waste management.



SUSTAIN RESPONSIBLE OPERATIONS


We are responsibly addressing social issues in our business operations. We actively support worker rights and diversity promotion, and strengthen cooperation with local communities.




EMPOWER THROUGH OPPORTUNITY


We provide opportunities for our employees and the community, and provide them with opportunities for growth through training and development programs.




WELCOME ALL AND ADVANCE HUMAN RIGHTS


We respect diversity and inclusion and respect the human rights of our customers and employees.




Marriott International, a hotel company with 31 brands and a strong portfolio of over 8,500 properties across 138 countries and territories, is encouraging other hotel companies to participate through these ESG best practices and to effectively implement ESG principles and achieve sustainability. It is a good example of realizing sustainability in terms of the environment, society, and governance, and pursuing business success and social responsibility in harmony, and it will serve as a useful guideline for other companies to implement it as a reality. In the future, since positive customer experiences are the main product and goal of hotel companies, the biggest challenge that will determine the successful role of ESG will be how to induce active participation in the process of customers experiencing the hotel.
