Responding to and mitigating the impact of climate change on tourism is a task of “One Planet and Sustainable Tourism”

☞  A task that can only be achieved through the active and simultaneous participation of all countries, regions and civil society around the world.

 ☞ An obligation that must be performed now, not a choice

 ☞  The world must clarify its own roles and obligations toward carbon neutrality, and tourism must participate as a stakeholder in carrying out those roles and obligations.

 ☞  We must actively engage in cooperation and solidarity at all levels, and this must include tourism businesses and tourists as consumers.

Tourism is an industry that urgently needs to make groundbreaking efforts to achieve global carbon neutrality.

 ☞  Tourism is greatly affected by changes in the marine ecosystem due to global warming, a decrease in the number of ski resort operation days due to rising winter temperatures, and an increase in the frequency of extreme weather events.

 ☞  The tourism industry is a high value-added industry with certainty of continuous growth.

 ☞  As the tourism industry’s share of global greenhouse gas emissions is expected to increase, responsibility and accountability are strengthened.

 ☞  The tourism sector is in an environment where it must take active action on climate change, but it lacks effective means to reduce and absorb greenhouse gases appropriately and effectively.

 ☞  Effective, transparent and innovative carbon neutral policies and measures for the tourism sector are urgently needed and require strong action.
